House Proud

Seems everyone likes to see what the designers own home looks like. Most designers will take risks in their own homes that they might not with a clients. I designed this kitchen, great room and house 22 years ago. I took an older home and gutted it, put on a 2nd story and redid everything but the front porch. It fits in with the old neighborhood. I redid the island about 6 years ago when I got lucky and was able to buy the 48 inch range off a showroom floor. White cabinets, love them and they never go out of Style!

3 inch thick mahogany butcher block top. Painted sub-floor of fir.
Wall of glass windows and doors lead to garden.

Wine rack over messy but loved photo frig gallery

Brother Peter's self portrait, in oil. 1964

10 ft original ceilings

My top hats as I call them over glass front doors. Like the top of a Secretary.

Post is where there was a solid wall that we took down to open up room. At the time, 22 years ago, everyone thought I was nuts to do this. Now we all want open rooms.

Gracie likes it !!

White plain slab cabinet doors on perimeter and shaker style on island.

Chippendale style bracket foot

TV in closet, can close the doors and get rid of it when needed.

Dark knobs on island and stainless on perimeter. Like to mix things up !

Slipcovers great with dogs. Grandpa's Chinese chest he bought right off of Fisherman's wharf  in the 1920's.

Box balls with impatience in pots.
